BRONZE SQUADRON GREEN TEAM TRAINEE FIELD REFERENCE
1. IDENTITY & EXPECTATIONS
Who We Are
Bronze Squadron is a mature, realism-focused MilSim unit built around disciplined teamwork, combat readiness, and respect for the craft of small-unit special operations. We conduct deliberate operations: Direct Action, Special Reconnaissance, CAS integration, partner force enablement, sensitive site exploitation, and high-risk personnel recovery.
This is not a run-and-gun unit. We plan, brief, rehearse, execute, and debrief — the right way. Our identity is captured in our motto:
Facta Portarum — Maker of Doorways. We live at the breach point.
Unit History — The Short Version
Founded — December 2025
Bronze Squadron was founded by like-minded individuals striving for an experience that mimics as close to real environment as possible in the Tier 1 setting. Founding members brought broad MilSim experience. Began as a single DEVGRU team: Anvil.
January 2026
Expansion to include the Raven element — Tactical Air Control Party and Special Reconnaissance. Added to enable NSWDG elements with the 160th SOAR and advanced reconnaissance.
May 2026
Pararescue added. Raven 3 (unit PJs) augments the Raven element with dedicated medical staff and paves the road for CASEVAC and rescue operations.
First Deployment
Operation Shadow Convergence — Afghanistan. Bronze Squadron's first active operational deployment.
What Is Expected of You
- Professional comms & discipline: On the net and off it. How you communicate reflects on the element.
- SOP-driven execution: We follow the SOP. Improvisation is earned, not assumed.
- Zero tolerance: Drama, ego, and toxicity are disqualifying. This is the standard from the moment you join.
- Commitment: Training and operations schedules exist. If you cannot commit, this is not the right unit.
- Immersion: Immersion is at the core of Bronze Squadron and is non-negotiable. Breaks in immersion are reserved for teaching moments during training.
- Maturity: Team focus above individual performance. Bring willingness to learn — regardless of your prior experience.
Conduct & Decorum
- Address others by their rank and name. Expect to be addressed the same way.
- Use 'C' or 'Q' in side chat to request comments or questions. Silence in response to a question is not acceptable.
- Change your in-game name as soon as you join: type '/setname Rank Name' in chat. PC: '/' key. Xbox: LB+Y. PS5: L1+△. It saves so you only do it once per server.
- When multiple instructors are present, one has the floor. Direct questions to the lead instructor unless told otherwise.
Schools Available in the Unit
Once you complete Green Team, the following advanced schools are available:
- Dive School (Level I, II, III)
- HAHO / HALO (Jump School)
- Medical
- Reconnaissance School
- SERE School
- Breacher Qualification
- DEMO Qualification
- Advanced CQB and Direct Action
- Special Reconnaissance Qualification
- Tactical Air Control Party / Combat Controller Track
- Pararescue / Combat MEDEVAC Track
- Aerial Operations — 160th SOAR Attaché (Saber Squadron)
- Advanced Leadership Qualification
2. MISSION PROFILES & ELEMENT STRUCTURE
What We Do
Direct Action / Raiding
Primary mission set for Anvil and Hammer. Deliberate assault on defended objectives, coordinated with SOAR and the 24th STS.
Special Reconnaissance
Raven 2. Deployed ahead of the main Bronze force to scout and collect intelligence on opposing forces in the AO.
Aerial Fires & Transport
Saber Squadron — 160th SOAR. Provides aerial fires integration, ISR, and transport support.
Aerial Fires Integration
Raven 1 (TACP / CCT). Handles air communications and fires coordination. Often integrated directly with Bronze command.
Combat Search & Rescue
Raven 3 (PJ). Assists downed personnel and executes medical and casualty evacuations.
Other
High-value personnel security, counter-terror operations, and clandestine tasks.
Task Force Structure
Saber Squadron — Aircraft (160th SOAR)
| Aircraft | Role | |---|---| | MH-60K | Primary assault transport | | MH-60L DAP (Direct Action Penetrator) | Armed escort and fires support | | MH-47E Chinook | Heavy lift and personnel transport | | AH-6C Little Bird | Light attack and precision fires |
Troop Leadership
Troop Commander
Commands the element. Responsible for planning, execution, and all comms up the chain.
Troop Chief
Carries out the operational plan the Troop Commander creates.
Squad Leader
Controls a Squad of 8 operators.
Team Leader
Controls a 4-operator team within the squad. Squads split into two teams when needed.
Squad Billets
These are the roles you may find yourself filling in a squad. You don't need to memorize every billet on Day 1 — but you need to understand that roles exist, roles matter, and operating outside your role without direction is not initiative. It's a problem.
| Billet | Responsibilities | |---|---| | Squad Leader | Senior Enlisted in the squad. Controls execution of Troop HQ's plan. | | Senior Operator / Squad 2IC | Second most senior enlisted. Runs a 4-man team if the squad splits. Versed in all other billets. | | SOCM (Special Operations Combat Medic) | Medical operator. Treats operators in the field to keep the mission moving. | | SSE / Detainee Coordinator / Logistics | Collects intel and detainees on target. Passes information to leadership. Manages loadouts and supplies. | | Heavy Weapons Operator | Mans the Mk48 for suppression and volume of fire. Force-multiplier for the squad. | | Breacher | Defeats doors, walls, and other obstacles. | | Precision Marksman / Recon Operator | Engages targets at distance. Maintains LP/OPs. Feeds intelligence to leadership. | | Demolitions Specialist / EOD | Route clearance, disarming IEDs, destroying equipment to deny enemy forces. |
3. KIT STANDARD
Kit issues caught in the staging area save lives on the objective. Configure your kit to standard. Check it every session before stepping on the range.
Helmet
| Component | Standard | |---|---| | Model | Fast XP — Foliage Green | | Attachments | Goggles, unit patches, facemask (optional), beard (optional) | | Notes | Helmet seated correctly. Designation patch visible on rear, per unit standard. |
Uniform — Upper
| Component | Standard | |---|---| | Shirt | DGIII camouflage combat shirt - AOR2 | | Patches | US flag on right shoulder. Unit designation on left shoulder or helmet rear. | | Notes | Correct camo pattern only. No mixed patterns without authorization. |
Uniform — Lower
| Component | Standard | |---|---| | Pants | DGIII camouflage combat trousers with integrated knee pad system - AOR2 | | Boots | Ultra X Pioneer — standard issue footwear | | Notes | DGIII pants only. Knee pads seated and functional. |
Load Bearing Equipment
| Component | Standard | |---|---| | Chest Rig | Unit-standard Plate Carrier. Pouches configured for primary mag load and secondary equipment. | | Gun Belt | Duty belt with holster and secondary pouches as required by role. | | Backpack | Assault pack — mission-dependent load. Trainees carry basic load only until cleared. |
Required Equipment — All Billets
Carry these every session. Missing items pre-mission is a preventable problem.
| Item | Quantity | |---|---| | Map | 1 | | Compass | 1 | | Vector 21 (Rangefinder) | 1 | | Primary Weapon Magazines | 8 minimum / 12 maximum | | Sidearm Magazines | 2 minimum / 5 maximum | | Bandages | 5 | | Tourniquets | 5 | | Yellow Smoke | 1 | | Green Smoke | 1 | | Fragmentation Grenade | 2 | | Flashbang (9-Banger) | 2 (5 recommended) | | Zip Cuffs | 5 | | Wire Cutters | 1 | | Lockpick Set | 1 | | Rappel Anchor | 1 | | Secret Papers | 1 |
4. COMMUNICATIONS
If you cannot communicate on the net correctly, you are a liability to the element. Comms discipline is non-negotiable. Learn it cold.
Your Radio — MPU-5
- Collect your MPU-5 before each session.
- Set the net frequency you're briefed to use.
- Confirm transmit and receive before the element moves.
Personal Radio Interface
| Function | PC | Console | |---|---|---| | Open Interface | G | LB + X | | Change Frequency | Scroll Wheel | Up / Down on D-Pad | | Talk Over Radio (hold) | Caps Lock (configurable) | Set in controls for comfort |
Required Keybinds
- PTT (Push to Talk): Primary radio transmit key. MUST BE DIFFERENT FROM LOCAL VOICE KEY.
- Radio Cycle: Cycles between available radio nets.
- Direct Speech (Local Voice): Local voice PTT. PTT for both radio and local is a Bronze Squadron requirement — no voice activation.
Comms Standards
Net discipline
One transmits at a time. No cross-talk. Wait for the net to clear before transmitting.
Transmission format
Callsign of station being called — your callsign — your message.
Example: 'Any Station this is Your Callsign, Radio check on 41.8, over'
Always remember the tip, YOU THIS IS ME, when calling on the radio.
Brevity
Say what needs to be said. Short and to the point.
Acknowledgement
- ROGER — message received and understood.
- WILCO — will comply.
- SAY AGAIN — did not receive, repeat.
- NEVER use 'REPEAT' on the radio.
NATO Phonetic Alphabet & Digits
All NATO forces use the same phonetic alphabet so letters and numbers are understood even in poor signal conditions. Memorize this.
Alphabet
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-Ray, Yankee, Zulu.
Digits
One, Two, Tree, Fow-er, Fife, Six, Seven, Eight, Niner, Zero.
Numbers ≥ 10
Say each digit individually to avoid confusion between numbers like 115 and 150. Example: 'One, fife, zero' instead of 'one hundred and fifty'.
Pro-Words
Pro-words are radio-shorthand with specific meanings. Use them correctly. Don't invent your own.
| Pro-Word | Definition | |---|---| | ANY STATION | I am attempting to establish communications with any callsign or element on this net who is receiving my transmission. | | THIS IS | This transmission is from the station whose designator immediately follows. | | AFFIRMATIVE / NEGATIVE | Used in place of 'yes' and 'no'. | | CORRECT | You are correct, or what you have transmitted is correct. | | CORRECTION | An error has been made in this transmission. Transmission will continue with the last word correctly transmitted. | | DISREGARD | This transmission is in error. Disregard it. Shall not be used to cancel any message. | | REPEAT | Used to communicate to friendly elements to execute their most previous fire mission again. NOT to be used in place of 'say again'. | | SAY AGAIN | I am repeating the transmission or a portion indicated. Repeat all of your last transmission. | | READ BACK | Repeat this entire transmission back to me exactly as received. | | ALL BEFORE / AFTER | The portion of the message to which I have reference is all that precedes / follows ______. | | BREAK | I hereby indicate the separation of the text from other portions of the message. | | MORE TO FOLLOW | Transmitting station has additional traffic for the receiving station. | | OVER | End of my transmission. A response is necessary. | | OUT | End of my transmission. No answer required. OVER and OUT are never used together. | | WAIT, OVER / OUT | I must pause for a few seconds (OVER) / longer than a few seconds (OUT). | | BREAK, BREAK, BREAK | Cease all comms on this net. I am assuming control for traffic of higher priority. | | PRIORITY / EMERGENCY TRAFFIC | Precedence PRIORITY. Reserved for messages requiring precedence over routine traffic. | | SILENCE / SILENCE LIFTED | Cease transmission immediately. Silence is maintained until lifted. Emergency traffic may still be passed. | | ROGER / COPY | I have received your last transmission satisfactorily. | | WILCO | I have received your signal, understand it, and will comply. ROGER and WILCO are never used together. |
How to Transmit
- Mentally compose your message before speaking.
- Listen — make sure the frequency is clear before transmitting.
- Press your transmit key.
- Pause for a beat before speaking.
- Speak in a deliberate, clear voice.
- Pause for a beat before releasing your transmit key.
Conducting a Radio Check
A radio check confirms signal strength and clarity. The receiver responds on a scale of 1 to 5 for each. A perfect signal is 5x5, spoken as 'ROGER.' A very strong but garbled transmission is 5x1; a weak but readable signal is 1x4.
| Scale | Signal Strength | Signal Clarity | |---|---|---| | 1 | Very Weak | Unreadable | | 2 | Weak | Intermittently Readable | | 3 | Fairly Strong | Readable with Difficulty | | 4 | Strong | Readable | | 5 | Loud | Clear |
VERBAL COMMS: Muzzle direction calls, contact reports, and acknowledgements are spoken immediately and clearly. Silence is not confirmation. If you hear it, acknowledge it.
5. WEAPONS HANDLING & SAFETY
Safe weapons handling is the price of admission. There are no exceptions and no warnings beyond the first time. Internalize T.H.I.N.K. and behave by it every session.
T.H.I.N.K. — Universal Safety Rules
| Rule | Definition | |---|---| | T | Treat every weapon as if it were loaded. | | H | Handle every weapon with care. | | I | Identify the target before you fire. | | N | Never point the muzzle at anything you are not prepared to engage. | | K | Keep the weapon on safe and your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. |
Weapon Conditions
Weapon conditions describe the state your weapon is in or should be in. In Arma Reforger we can only simulate two — Condition 1 and Condition 4.
| Status | Condition 4 | Condition 1 | |---|---|---| | Magazine inserted | No | Yes | | Round in chamber | No | Yes | | Safety on | Yes | No |
Condition 1
Magazine in, round chambered, safety on. Active operations carry condition.
Condition 3
Magazine in, no round chambered, safety on. Standard admin carry. (Unattainable in Arma Reforger.)
Condition 4
No magazine, no chambered round, action open or closed. Safe storage / hand-off condition.
